Peace in the Pause

Peace in the Pause

More than a few of my clients have plopped down on the couch in my therapy room with a huge exhale, saying something like, “This is my first chance to slow down since Thanksgiving. Christmas is coming so fast!”

Has it felt fast to you too? Well, I wanted to offer a brief, yet profound encouragement for all of us:

THERE IS ENOUGH TIME.

In God’s eyes, there is enough time. Enough time to last-minute shop, wrap, cook, visit, and laugh. So…

PAUSE.

Pause and adopt God’s mindset for the next few days. There is enough time. With God, you have what you need. Pause as your own personal act of rebellion against the forces conspiring to rob you of joy and peace.

PAUSE.

Pause and linger on a beautiful Christmas display.
Pause to sit down and chat with your neighbor when you drop off those cookies.
Pause and listen longer to your child chattering on in excitement.
Pause and practice gratitude.
Pause and dance to a great song.
Pause and make that hug a little longer.

The truest enjoyment of the season is in the moments we allow ourselves to slow down. And all of us have enough time for that!

  1. Love this! “Pause as your own personal act of rebellion against the forces conspiring to rob you of joy and peace.”
This list could go on & on. Pause to gaze upon God’s creation: a snowfall, a sunset/ sunrise, the wind in the trees and more.
